Kumbhabhishekam (SV Temple)

Aug 26th - 30th 2009

 

Sri Venkateswara Temple Kumbhabhishekam

from Aug 26 to Aug 30, following the completion of the required rennovation, repairs of Vimanams and Rajagopuram. As preparatory plans, Balalayam has been completed on June 17, 2009. Daily poojas are being performed as per agama shastras in the Balayalam until Kumbhabhishekam. 

 

The 5 day Kumbhabhishekam event in August will be conducted with daily yagnam, Maha Poornahuti followed by special abhishekam to all the deities on Sunday morning August 30, 2009. Devotees are requested to participate in the special celebrations and seek divine blessings.

Independence Day (Blood Drive)

Aug 15th 2009 from 10am to 2pm

Independence Day will be celebrated with a blood drive from 10 AM to 2 PM on August 15th  in collaboration with Central blood bank at Saffron parking lot. Saffron will provide complimentary lunch for the donors. Blood drive is open for public. Please spread the word and post the flyers where you can. Let us celebrate India's independence day by helping to save a life.
 
Cultural event and a delicious dinner buffet will be at 6 PM on August 15th at Saffron restaurant. Cultural program will be performed by a young and very talented couple from Bangalore. Depending on the audience request they can perform classical, semi-classical or light music and dance.

Mrs. Namita Desai will be dancing some dance items and also can perform classical too depending upon the audience response. She can perform some devaranama and some compositions in Hindi and Sanskrit. Please visit her website for more information and pictures. www.namitadesai.com
 
Entry fee for the evening program is $8.99. It includes the delicious dinner and spectacular performances.

Ugadi 2009 -  on March 28th 2009 evening

 






 

 

 

 

 

It is only 2 more weeks for the awaited Ugadi celebration.

Here are some important announcements:

Emcee - To encourage youth participation, this year two youngsters above 15 years will be given the opportunity to emcee. Please send your name and details to Mrs. Sarvehwari Hegde – sarvejaji@yahoo.com,  412-963-8663 if you are interested to emcee the Ugadi function.

 

Fashion show - Please send the names of the children participating in fashion show/fancy dress to Mrs. Sarvehwari Hegde – sarvejaji@yahoo.com,  412-963-8663. Costumes should be preferably related to Karnataka. It can be anything from freedom fighters, kings, saints and farmers to people representing different regions of Karnataka.

 

Volunteers – To make the function a grand success help from every Kannadiga is needed. Volunteers are needed for:

1. Registration

2. Arranging and serving food

3. Stage preparation

4. Cleaning

Registration -  4 PM – 5 PM 

Please try to arrive early, so that all the fun programs can begin at 5 PM.

 

Cultural programs - 5 PM – 8 PM

Don’t miss the hilarious drama AMAASE POORNIMA”, children’s fashion show, dances, skits and much more.

 

Dinner - 8 PM

Delicious dinner from some of the best cooks in town.
